You may already have family traditions that make your holiday season merry and bright, but if Rock City’s Enchanted Garden of Lights isn’t on your list, you will want to add it for an even brighter holiday season! We followed along with the Potts Family to see just how fun and exciting it is to make memories and set a tradition for generations to come.

Langdon and Katy began making the Enchanted Garden a part of their family’s holiday tradition a few years ago, and it never gets old. From the moment six-year-old Carrigan and younger sister Madeline stepped into the winter fairyland the twinkling colors of Christmas reflected in their wide-eyed wonder of this magical setting.  The first stop for these girls was a visit to Santa where they shared their hopes for what they will find under the tree on Christmas morning.

After a visit to Santa, it was time to design their very own Gingerbread cookies.

Next, guided by the easy-to-follow map provided by Rock City, dad, mom, and girls explored the lights throughout the winding paths amid Rock City’s infamous rock formations. Discoveries awaited around every bend!

So many opportunities for family photos!

What would a trip to the Enchanted Garden be without a stop for delicious hot chocolate? Convenient seating with an overlook to the lights in the valley below was the perfect opportunity to enjoy family time and recap what they had taken in on the journey so far.

Once the chocolate was consumed it was time to visit the Ice Queen and walk through the Artic.

Did someone mention cotton candy? This was a “must-do” on Carrigan’s and Madeline’s list.

Madeline was ready to call it a night. Tired but with a smile on her face!

Are you ready now to purchase your tickets for an amazing night of oohs, aahs and wows? Go to and get in on the fun! (visit on a weeknight for special admission.) The 2021 event runs Nov. 19 – Jan. 2, 5:00pm – 9:00pm (10:00pm on select nights.)
